I have recently become somewhat of an audiophile. I'm not sure hoe it started, but all of a sudden I can tell the difference between a 192 Kbit MP3 and a 192 Kbit WMA track on my Zen and an iPod playing the same track at 256Kbit AAC. I used to rip my music at 84 Kbit WMA on my Zen Nano and be fine listening to it. Now, I can't stand listening to anything less than 160Kbit WMA. I re-ripped all my songs as 196 Kbit WMAs. Being a Dutchman, I can't bring myself to buy headphones that cost more than 10 bucks. That's probably a good thing, since I just went and bought a 4th pair of Sony earbuds. My other 3 pairs lasted an average of half a year each.
I also have a set of Altec Lansing speakers in my room. They don't sound all that great and the speakers are only 3 watts each with a 10 watt woofer. This is where my search for an inexpensive Hi-Fi audio system begins.
